Location Oceanside, CA
Agency U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Client) / Manson Construction (Prime)
Project Value $182,931
Project Description Manson Construction Co. was required to remove (via hydraulic dredge) approximately 200,000 cubic yards of sand from the entrance channel of Oceanside Harbor and place the sand on the beach. Because of prevailing ocean current in the Oceanside area, sand drifts into the entrance channel. The current and waves also erode sand from the beach in front of houses to the south of the harbor. The purpose of this project was to maintain a sufficient depth in the navigation channel into Oceanside Harbor, and also to restore an adequate strip beach in front of the houses south of the harbor. Reyes Construction, Inc. provided all of the land based labor and equipment for installing discharge pipe on the beach to transport sand from the entrance of the harbor to south of the pier. Reyes Construction also performed fill placement operations 24 hours per day and 6 – 7 days per week.
