The Ventura County Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) awarded the Santa Paula Creek Emergency Streambank Protection Project  "2007 Project of the Year".  This Ventura County Watershed Prtoection District Project was the $3.6 million emergency project to repair the streambank and channelization of the severe erosion along Santa Paula Creek, resulting from extremely heavy rainfall in January 2005.
