    Project Description

    Base Item 0001, PE14231M: Repair work includes the culverts at French and Aliso Creek by replacing existing deteriorated and corroded corrugated metal pipes (CMP) with reinforced concrete pipes (RCP) and with same existing length. Repair work also includes clearing and grubbing, demolition of A/C pavement, demolition of culverts, guard rails, and temporary traffic control. The existing French Creek culvert shall be replaced with 5-60" RCP pipes and Aliso Creek culvert shall be replaced with 5-48" RCP pipes. Contract shall include backfill, compaction, provide guard rails with metal poles when required and relate attenuation devices, restoration of temporary road impacts to include A/C paving and striping work, restoration of temporary environmental impacts, and any incidental related work.

    Base Item 0002, PE14231R: Improvement work shall be done at French Creek, Aliso Creek pipe culverts by providing headwalls and energy dissipaters. Work includes clearing & grubbing, grading, construction of headwalls, installation of 2 ton rip-rap energy dissipaters with filter fabric, restoration of temporary environmental impacts, and any incidental related work. For double barrel box culvert at Aliso creek, improvement work includes clearing & grubbing, grading, installation of 2-ton rip-rap energy dissipaters with filter fabric, restoration of temporary environmental impacts, and any incidental related work. The existing double barrel box culvert does not require a new headwall. Mitigation cost from the rip-rap’s permanent impact shall be included under the improvement costs. The contractor shall install the new culverts at the existing flood plain elevations. Provide bearing to culverts and headwalls as required as well as Rip Rap protection. The Designer of Record (DOR) shall provide a headwall design that will accommodate a 5-foot shoulder on each side of the road.
