Reyes Construction Inc’s project Palm Avenue Street End Improvement Project was recently recognized by the San Diego and Imperial Counties Chapter of the American Public Works Association as the Project of the Year in the category of Parks from $2 million to $5 million. The beautiful plaza opened up in January 2009, and is being enjoyed by all. Palm Avenue also received a Project Achievement Award from the San Diego Chapter of the Construction Management Association of America.
The project has created a park-like setting for ocean viewing with a semi-circular seawall, colored pavement, benches, landscaping and public art. The ramps to the beach provide year-round beach access. The storm water pump station diverts nuisance runoff to the wastewater collection system, resulting in less pollution reaching the beach.
The projected was constructed in 2008 by Reyes Construction Inc, with construction management services provided by PBS&J and material testing performed by Bureau Veritas and the planning, design and construction of the project, the City of Imperial Beach staff provided unlimited support and guidance to assure the success of the project.
Congratulation to the San Diego Team and everyone at Reyes Construction for the recognition of teamwork and completion of a beautiful project!
